Honda VFR 1200F

Inspired by the V4 Concept bike, the 2010 Honda VFR 1200F is an all-new sport touring bike that features fluid, sculptural shapes and an innovative drive train.

The VFR's liquid-cooled 1,237cc V4 power plant is Honda's first throttle-by-wire engine, and features a more compact design with Unicom valve train design incorporated from Honda's off-road bikes. The engine has an asymmetrical exhaust length, and comes mated to either a dual clutch automatic transmission that can be operated in three modes (and shifted manually), or a slipper clutch-enabled standard transmission. The bike's "dual layer" fairing and bodywork is constructed so no rivets are externally visible.

The 2010 Honda VFR 1200F will be available in Candy Red when it goes on sale in spring, 2010. Though pricing won't be announced until December 2009, expect this sport tourer to get slapped with a premium price tag.

The motorcycle will initially be available in Candy Prominence Red, Seal Silver Metallic and Pearl Sunbeam White colors. is also a dual clutch automatic transmission version available which features three modes and paddle shifters. What the Manual and automatic transmissions are six-speed. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a shaft drive which Honda claims to have seriously improved to avoid any of the normal shaft drive issues.

The price of the Honda VFR 1200 F has not yet been announced. We expect to have a grip on that in the next month or two.

We think that the rear passenger seat might be a complaint for some, but whether it will be as uncomfortable as it looks is something that will be clear only after a test ride. For the time being Honda VFR 1200 F looks like a capable motorcycle that has the potential to be the perfect sports tourer.
